New Beginnings

New Beginnings

Picture this:

You've poured years of dedication into a company, excelling at every turn, yet an unshakable feeling of dissatisfaction gnaws at you. Despite your stellar performance, the job fails to ignite your passion. Maybe it's the absence of a greater purpose or the rigid schedule that leaves you yearning for more. Then, one fateful morning, you stride into the office only to be blindsided by your company telling you to pack your stuff up, courtesy of a corporate reshuffle.

How would you react to such a jarring twist of fate? What torrent of emotions would surge through you? Undoubtedly, sadness, anger, and a palpable sense of being adrift would sweep over you, perhaps even plunging you back to square one.

But amidst this whirlwind of uncertainty lies an intriguing possibility: could this abrupt departure be the motivation you've been unconsciously craving? Could it be the push you needed to pursue those long-buried dreams of entrepreneurship, travelling, or exploring fresh career horizons?

Some may opt to rebuild within a similar role, seeking solace in familiarity. However, for many, the lure of settling for another soul-crushing job, veering further from their dreams, proves too strong. And therein lies the crux of the matter: life is meant for so much more.

Life is about seizing opportunities, embracing challenges, and uncovering joy in unexpected places. It's about refusing to sulk in a job you loathe until retirement beckons. So, when life slams a door shut, take a moment to ponder:

What truly brings me happiness?

This is THE most important question in my mind. Did the door slammed in my face really have the potential to make me happy? When I was younger I applied for an apprenticeship. I went to the assessment centre, did a full 8 hours of interviews, group tasks and presentations. I got a call a couple weeks later saying I didn't get the apprenticeship, but instead they wanted to offer me a full time job. I did that job for a year and a half and then used the experience I gained to get an even better apprenticeship at another company. If that door hadn't been shut for me in the first company, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get the even better apprenticeship. Trust that everything happens for a reason and that it will work out but you HAVE to take advantage of new beginnings.

What adventure beckons me next?

Could it be travelling, learning a new skill, trying a new job? This will help define exactly what you want and if I were you I would go into something that I would love and am interested in. For me travelling is a big priority and at some point in my life I will go back out there and travel the world. Think on your passions... you are a great cook, open a café/restaurant. You love music... look into trending audio clips/songs and try to come up with a new one. You love crisps... make an online blog, social media account, website and start doing reviews of every crisp. You can make money from all these things but the best bit will be that you will be happy! If you aren't then follow a new passion, a new dream, a new opportunity.

Ignore the whispers of societal expectations.

Too often people bend to others desires as they think they will finally be cool, look rich, be the child their parents always wanted them to be? I can tell you that listening to all that is just going to ruin your happiness & success. My parents were desperate for me to go to university but I was fixed on not spending £60000 on a degree that wouldn't even guarantee me a job. Parents want you to be happy, be successful and therefore influence you to choose the safest path. Whilst their heart is in the right place, a lot of the time you should follow your instincts. My parents came to be so proud after I secured my apprenticeship, even though a couple years back they were desperate for me to go to university. Believe in yourself, be consistent with what you want to achieve and most importantly, follow your happiness.

Life is a tapestry woven with opportunities, setbacks, and missed chances. But what truly matters is not the setbacks themselves, but rather how we respond and what we choose to do next. So long as we heed the call of our passions and chase our happiness with energy, what could possibly go wrong?"
