Travel: How Does It Change Your Life?

Travel: How Does It Change Your Life?

Why Travelling Changes Your Perspective Of Life.

Picture this, you wake up on a beach, you feel the sand pressed against your hands, the towel on your back. The sun is beaming down onto your face. The distant cries of seagulls ring in your ears as you reach to have a big stretch, releasing all the tension in your body. How relaxed do you feel? What emotions do you have? Are you happy?

Whilst the reality of travelling can have its ups and downs, it is a life changing experience. I was lucky to have the opportunity to travel to Australia. I went by myself and travelled up the East coast. Across the 7 weeks I spent £8000 that I had saved up, I spent so much because I didn't want to leave and regret not trying something out. I was very fortunate to have that type of money and I am so grateful to have the memories that I created over there with it, even though it's now all gone.

Travelling opens up worlds of possibilities, you make lifelong friends, create unforgettable memories and learn so much about yourself. No matter the scale, travelling will show you things you didn’t know about yourself. For me, I understood how adaptable I can be in unknown situations: as I went by myself, I had to make friends which can be a daunting task in an unknown country but luckily it didn’t take me long to find a good group. Yes I missed my family & friends, yes I missed home comforts, but I can promise you, it’s better to miss home that to miss out on the world. I saw animals I’d only ever scene on TV, eye watering sunsets, dramatic landscapes and most importantly, I was doing what genuinely made me happy.

Now that I am in a job for the next few years, I have really struggled with the realisation that I’m going to have to wait 4 years till I can go again. They do say, once you travel you can very easily get the unshakeable travel bug.

For me, 18-30 are the prime years to travel, you have no responsibilities, no obligations, and no real pressure to get your career going. Once you have kids, a home and a job, it’s much harder to do what you could do now. Don’t let yourself regret missing out, just go out in the world, soak up all the amazing experience and memories. Live your best life as it is supposed to be enjoyed, you are supposed to love it and, it is YOUR life. No one else’s. Don’t let anyone control it but you.

Back to the main question in this blog, how does travelling change your life?

As mentioned above, the friends, the memories, the skills and the experiences you discover when you travel, they will stay with you for the rest of your life. You come back wiser, more confident and way more grateful for the beautiful world we live in. You realise how wonderful life is. With all the negative situations going on in the world, it can be hard to remember the beauty still left in it. Life is so fragile and nothing less than stunning. Live it, don't just glide along the time scale existing, try to make a difference and experience everything you can in your small corner of the world!

My challenge for you is, think about where you would travel. What would you do? Where would you go? How long would you go for? Would you go solo or with a group? Is it something you can imagined you would love?

Once you have answered those, let me know on Instagram or Facebook what your plan would be and if you will try to do it in the future.

Hope you enjoyed the read!
